Donald Trump’s presence on Friday afternoon at Bethpage will probably be the most talked-about news in the 2025 Ryder Cup. The POTUS will be there to show his support for Team U.S. against a strong European side. This must’ve rung some alarm bells in the Team Europe dressing room. But that’s not the case, and Robert MacIntyre set a great example of that in an interview.

Bob Mac sat down for a press conference preceding the 2025 Ryder Cup. During the conversation, the reporters asked him if Trump’s proud Scottish heritage would have any impact on his presence at Bethpage. MacIntyre bluntly told the reporter, “I just play golf. I don’t — politics and stuff is out of my — I mean, I’m not bright enough, for one, to be worrying about politics. I’m worrying more about what goes on this week on the golf course.”

Robert seems unfazed about the President’s appearance on Friday. And that seems to be the case for the whole ofLuke Donald’s team as over the last few weeks, they have been trying various tactics to prepare mentally for the supposed onslaught that awaits in New York. Rory McIlroy revealed how the Team Europe captain had provided everyone with VR headsets that simulate the crowd heckling that they might be subjected to at Bethpage. Seems like that is working, as the presence of the 47th POTUS doesn’t seem to bother  MacIntyre one bit.

Speaking about his role for the squad, the Scotsman added, “As a European, we’ve got a job to do, and yeah, try and compete as hard as we can and hopefully win the Ryder Cup.”

At the end of the day, whatever approach they take, every Team Europe player’s primary goal would be to help their team get the maximum points to win at Bethpage. Whether it’s to ignore the crowd or President Trump.

For McIntryre, it’s the same thing, as he further said, “It’s just another spectator,” as far as he’s concerned.

While, MacIntyre might greet him graciously when he is not handling his club, but when he is on the fairway, then President Donald Trump will be treated like any other American supporter trying to derail the Europeans. However, when the tournament is over, Robert MacIntyre might face the President once again. But this time, he won’t be able to ignore him as Justin Rose has already invited him into the conversation.

Europeans may ignore Donald Trump on Friday, but they might have to face him on Sunday

President Donald Trump’s sole purpose in visiting Bethpage is to motivate the U.S. team during their Ryder Cup match. His relationship with Bryson DeChambeau will certainly boost the LIV Golf pro’s confidence. Moreover, Keegan Bradley and Patrick Cantlay have also mentioned how having Trump on the course will be great for the team’s morale. However, one of Team Europe’s Ryder Cup veterans had a different idea.

During an interview, Justin Rose was asked if he would like to have Donald Trump on stage should the Europeans win at Bethpage. The 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship winner replied, “100 percent. I’m not sure he’s going to want to be on the stage congratulating the team that sort of wins in his backyard. But listen, of course, he’s the President, ultimate respect, and that would be a great opportunity.”

With the invitation extended, President Donald Trump just might celebrate Team Europe’s win at Bethpage on Sunday. In that case, Robert MacIntyre might have to indulge in a bit of political socializing and get to know the 47th POTUS after all the action is done.
