September 10, 2025, was a sad day in the world. The United States lost Charlie Kirk as he was giving his speech at Utah Valley University. Many Americans shared their accolades for him on social media. One of them was Phil Mickelson, who has always been vocal about his views on American politics and culture. So when the reports of the late Kirk receiving a medal from the President came out, the Lefty didn’t hesitate to share his feelings about the situation once again.

A couple of days ago, Eric Daugherty revealed “🚨 BREAKING: President Trump will award CHARLIE KIRK the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously on what would’ve been his 32nd birthday – Oct. 14, next week, per CNN. This is going to be historic. It’s well-deserved. 🇺🇸🙏,” confirming that the late Charlie Kirk’s family will receive the medal from President Donald Trump. And in response, Mickelson wrote, “His presence and message will live forever but I still wish he was here. This award is well deserved 👏👏.”
It seems that Phil is still upset about Kirk’s passing. Even if he didn’t receive the award, the LIV Golf pro would have preferred it if the late activist was still alive. We’re sure President Trump would have preferred that as well, considering how much Kirk contributed to both his campaigns. Coming back to Mickelson, he has shown strong support to Kirk & his family ever since the incident. In fact, Lefty also called out those who tried to besmirch his reputation online in the aftermath. So his reaction to Charlie’s Presidential Medal doesn’t come as a surprise.
