The former father-son challenge started back in 1995 and has seen many memorable moments and exciting finishes over the years. Even this year’s tournament started on a very exciting and record-making note! Thanks to Team Kuchar! The tournament has been held at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando since 2012 and has had different venues before that. Similar to venues, there have been many winners of the tournament, with a few recurring ones as well!

Team with the most wins at the PNC Championship

The team with the most wins until the 2023 PNC Championship was Team Floyd. Raymond Floyd and his son, Raymond Floyd Jr., have won the PNC Championship five times, more than any other team in the history of the event. Their first victory came in 1995, in the first edition itself. They repeated the feat in 1996, 1997, 2000, and 2001 and became the dominant force in the tournament. All the victories that the Floyd duo had in the PNC Championship notably came in two consecutive sessions.

However, their record was tied this year by another legendary team: the Langers! Bernhard Langer is now a five-time winner of the PNC Championship. He won two consecutively with his elder son, Stefan, in 2005 and 2006. It was not until 2014 that Langer was able to recreate his moments of victory with his youngest son, Jason. Five years later, in 2019, the Langer duo won for the second time at Ritz Carlton GC. 

This year, Bernhard Langer teamed up with his younger son again, intending to win. The father-son duo succeeded in the quest and won for the fifth time. Team Langer joined Team Floyd as the most successful duo in the event, having five victories to their name. Not all the renowned golfers have been able to achieve the same feat as Floyd or Langer, but they have been able to come close with their wins.

Other notable mentions in the PNC Championship’s past winners list

Larry Nelson and his son, Drew Nelson, have won the tournament three times. They won in 2004, 2007, and 2008. Davis Love III and his son Davis Love IV won the tournament two times, the first time in 2012 and then for the second time in 2018.

Among the distinguished teams claiming a single triumph are the legendary Jack Nicklaus and his son Gary Nicklaus, the formidable Hale Irwin and Steve Irwin, John Daly, and John Daly II, and the 2023 defending champions Vijay Singh and his son Qass Singh.
