New information about the US Open venue comes to light
The North Course of the Los Angeles Country Club will be welcoming many of the biggest names in golf in a few days for the impending U.S. Open. For the first time since 1947, the coveted major will be held on a course with five par-3s that could involve one of the longest (290-yard 11th) and shortest (120-yard 15th) in U.S. Open history.
Just how demanding is LACC ? Here’s what happens when you land it just right of the center of the fairway on the par-4 13th. 😳 #TeamTaylorMade pic.twitter.com/MlqF7zjOgO

While the golf community is excited to see what the LACC has in store for players this year, one of the tee shots has now become the talk of the town. It is none other than the 507-yard par-4 13th, which fans have been able to get a glimpse of in a new video shared by @TaylorMadeGolf.
The 13th fairway is probably one of the widest in the major’s long history. However, the 20-yard-wide window down on the left is the only ideal part of it. Any tee shot that goes down to the right will result in a blind second shot over a bunker some 45 yards from the putting surface.
While the dramatic Los Angeles course promises much excitement, fans aren’t thrilled. Since the clip has come to the surface, many have raised questions about the tough fairway.
Fans react to the difficult fairway at the LACC
The last time Los Angeles witnessed a U.S. Open was way back in 1948. In fact, it has been nearly three decades since the city played host to a major! But will the major event be able to ensure a successful return in America’s second-largest city? Well, many fans still seem to harbor a lot of inhibitions about its new venue, especially the 13th hole.
Becaues golf isn' hard enough. LOL

Another tricked up course which won't be a spectacle to watch. Ruining the game

Now why should you be penalized for landing just to the right of center of any fairway? And then it rolls into deep rough.

It will definitely be interesting to see how golfers navigate their way around the LACC course this time around. “I think some of the shorter hitters are gonna struggle,” longtime LACC member Stewart Hagestad has said about the tricky fairway, as reported by Golf Channel.
That’s stupid golf

When courses do gimmicky stuff like this, it seems a little over the top. It’s one thing for your course to be set up tough and to play hard. But it’s another thing when the superintendent seems to go out of their way to make the best golfers in the world look like a 10 handicap.

Between this and a 290 yard par 3 they are just turning the whole thing into farce. The idea is to find the best golfer not the luckiest.

Ridiculous. Make it tough, but fair. This is a joke.

The four-round, 72-hole stroke-play championship will be held from June 15th to June 18th. The 156-player field will feature the biggest golfing heavyweights, with the top 60 players and ties making the cut.
