‘Sick of It’: Fans React to Rory McIlroy’s Bold and Compelling Statements on Saudi League

This week, Rory McIlroy, a four-time major championship winner and a 20-time winner on the PGA Tour, is part of the field at the 2022 Genesis Invitational. The NorthernIrishman spoke about the Saudi Golf League. He was pretty bold in his words about the same.

Saudi Golf League is a hot topic in the golfing world. It has been in the news for quite some time now. Various rumors are being heard about players being offered huge sums to feature in the Saudi-backed golf league.

However, it is not still clear how many or which professionals will join the league. As a result, of a full-time suspension from the PGA Tour.

Rory McIlroy makes bold comments about the SGL

Rory spoke to the media on Wednesday, before the start of the Genesis Invitational. He spoke about the Saudi-backed golf league and passed a bold statement. Rory said, “Oh, I’m so sick of it.” After being asked about the SGL. But later answered all the questions.

He said, “I guess I’m intrigued who would (join). Certainly for the younger guys, like it just seems a massive risk,” McIlroy said.

“I can maybe make sense of it for the guys that are getting to the latter stages of their career, for sure. I don’t think that’s what a rival golf league is really; that’s not what they’re going to want, is it?”

He added, “I understand the financial part of it for guys that are later on in their career. Like, you’ve got the top players in the world saying no, so that has to tell you something.”
