‘Sitting in My Safe’: Long Time Tiger Woods Caddie Reveals a Priceless Jack Nicklaus Souvenir He Owns

A Caddy plays a crucial role in his player’s triumph on course. One of the most notable caddies in the golfing world is Steve Williams. He caddied for Tiger Woods from 1999 to 2011. And these were the years when Tiger was indomitable. Undoubtedly, even Steve deserves a bit of credit for the success that Woods has had over the years. 

Recently, Steve revealed his experiences of caddying for Tiger. In fact, he also talked about a special Jack Nicklaus souvenir that he possesses. Williams has a five-pound note with Jack Nicklaus on it and here’s what he had to say about his priced possession.

An iconic Jack Nicklaus five-pound note

The host revealed that the Royal Bank of Scotland had made a five-pound note with Jack Nicklaus on it. It is truly significant, as Jack is a foreigner, and he is also a golfer. The host further asked if he managed to get his hands on one of them.

“Well, I got one,” revealed Steve. “And that’s sitting in my safe. I am thinking that might be worth more than five pounds in a few years.” Moreover, he said that he was fortunate to get one of them.

Additionally, Williams said that the next time when he meets Jack Nicklaus, he will ask him to sign it. “And the next time I saw Jack, I got him to sign. So it’s a great bit of memorabilia. It’s not something you’d ever let go either. But that was a wonderful gesture of the Royal Bank of Scotland to do something like that,” concluded the New Zealander.

It is no secret, Steve Williams caddied for Tiger Woods during his peak years. The Tiger-Steve duo won plenty of events around the world with 13 major championships. Hence, fans consider this the best player-caddie duo in the sport; however, unfortunately, they parted ways in 2011. Since then, Joe LaCava has been caddying for Woods and will probably continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
