LIV Golf has been the Jon Rahm show since 2024! The Spaniard has absolutely dominated the Saudi-based league, finishing at the pinnacle of the individual standings in his very first season. He has also picked up pace in 2025, as he sits in the top three despite not winning a single LIV Golf event so far. Rahm is undoubtedly one of the most prolific golfers in the world, and he has proven that with his incredible consistency. But where does he stand against the world No. 1, Scottie Scheffler?
Live from the Interview Room at Augusta National, Rahm was asked, “As somebody like yourself who’s made a run up the rankings to the top, what is your appreciation for what Scottie has been doing and his sustainability and staying power?” by one of the reporters. And he didn’t hesitate to respond at all.
The Spanish swinger immediately replied, “It’s always a debate, right, is it harder to get there or stay there, and staying there is a lot harder than getting there, I would say. What we’ve seen Scottie do over the last three, four years is quite impressive. His ball-striking level is outstanding.” There is no question that Rahm admires Scheffler. He also said, “Anytime you have a year where you’re being compared to Tiger in his prime, I don’t think I need to add anything else to that. Winning nine times, winning majors, winning FedExCups and just all-out being the best throughout the season is quite incredible.” Scheffler’s achievements are truly outstanding, and Rahm is not afraid to acknowledge them. Besides, the two have a mutual rivalry and respect for each other, which is known among the community. Scheffler had even stated back in 2024 that he misses his rivalry with Rahm on the Tour.

In a tweet following his statement, Paolo Uggetti mentioned how the Legion XIII pro also mentioned, “Hopefully we have a solution and we can see each other more than just at the majors.” Rahm seems to be eager to compete with the best in the world at regular intervals. That’s a sign of a champion if there was any. Hopefully, the PIF-PGA Tour merger will be completed soon, and fans will be able to see these two world beaters compete with each other regularly again. But his acknowledgment of Scheffler didn’t end yet. He also stated, “That I can remember, the only three players that have won nine times in a calendar year in a very long time have been Scottie, Vijay and Tiger. That’s a very short list.” The world No. 1 certainly deserves his place in the elite list after his 2024 run.
Jon Rahm, in Spanish, talked about how he’s enjoyed going up against Scheffler, the few times he’s been able to.

Unfortunately, Scottie Scheffler has failed to replicate that form in 2025. Let’s see how he has played this season so far.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Jon Rahm the true king of golf, or does Scottie Scheffler still hold the crown?
Have an interesting take?
Scottie Scheffler might not be Jon Rahm’s biggest obstacle
Yes, turns out Scottie Scheffler might not be Jon Rahm’s biggest threat in his Masters Tournament pursuit. The world No. 1 has been out of form by his standards in 2025. In the six cuts he has made this season, Scheffler has failed to secure a single win. He has secured three top-10 finishes going into the 2025 Masters Tournament. For context, Scheffler had already won two titles by this time last year before he went on to triumph at Augusta National.

Mr. Inevitable’s best performance came at the 2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open. He finished at T2, only a couple of strokes away from Min Woo Lee. Scheffler’s second-round performance gave everyone hope of his return to form, but he couldn’t convert it into a victory. Interestingly, the 13x PGAT winner had also finished second in the same event in 2024 as well. All be it, we need to keep in mind that Scheffler had been suffering from injuries since the end of 2024.
Do you think Jon Rahm will be able to overcome Scottie Scheffler & Co. to grab his second Masters Tournament win this year? Let us know in the comments section.
