Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, despite the insane competition, have managed to create a healthy relationship for themselves. Somewhere during the ongoing race between Nicklaus’s 18-major titles and Tiger’s catching up, they’ve managed to create a beautiful legacy for golf and have given it a global reach. However, only a couple behind Nicklaus, Tiger still stands a chance to bridge that gap and rob him of the title of the most majors.

As the world cheers him on to grab the remaining three titles, Nicklaus, long-retired, has taken a back-seat and is watching it all unfold. Moreover, the reality of this coming true is not lost to him. In fact, he looks forward to that day and thinks it would definitely overshadow his achievements.

Jack Nicklaus believes Tiger winning the master’s would ‘eclipse’ his achievements

On the topic of the highly spoken about Tiger’s 2022 Master’s win, Gary Williams, host of 5 clubs conversation, asked Nicklaus, “I gotta ask you, because he’s now 46. He’s the age you were when you won the Masters for the last time. If he won the Masters this year, same age, would it equal the accomplishment that you had at the same age?”

Despite the wild competition between the two, Nicklaus, a true sport, replies, “I think it would eclipse it. I think for him, physically, to come back and win Masters this year, it would be absolutely fantastic… To come back after what he’s gone through and win, win again, my hat would go off to him big time.” Further, Williams brings up the topic of Tiger’s 2022 return to golf and asks Nicklaus his opinion on whether he will play golf this year.

The soon-to-be 82-year-old replies, “I have not talked to him at all and I believe he’s gonna play. When he can play and how much he can play, how much he can walk, I mean I watched him on the father-son a little bit. He walks 10 times better than I walk… He’ll figure it out! I mean, that’s what he’s always done, and that’s what champions do. And he’s a champion.”
