Everyone knows how great 2021 has been for Nelly Korda and Jin Young Ko. However, another player who’s had her own share of triumphs this season is Lydia Ko. As the CME Group Tour Championship is here, Ko spoke about playing with Korda and Jin Young, and how she feels about it.

One can state 2021 as Ko’s comeback year, who turned professional in 2014. As years passed, Ko’s wins were eventually affected. The New Zealand native has dealt with her self-doubt for a while but seems like she is finally back for good.

In a recent press conference, Lydia Ko spoke about the Race to CME, and how playing with the two is going to be an experience in itself. “Yeah, I told my mom, I was like ‘I’m going to be like third-wheeling with the two’. I might be third in the Race to CME but I feel like I’m 100 compared to them,” she said.

However, she spoke about how it is rare for two people to have seasons as they did. Korda won the Olympic gold, and Jin Young has been having a record unlike anyone else’s. In the end, it also means less pressure on Ko herself.

“I feel like there is a little less pressure on me because like they have the Player of the Year [battle] and they’re so close in everything that I was like,” she said. Ko added that ultimately, she feels like she will only be spectating.

Is 2021 is a new beginning for Lydia Ko?

This year, Ko won the Lotte Championship in Hawaii, winning for the first time since 2018. With her performance going down, she admitted to having a few doubts, especially with no wins for years.

“If I said, no, I didn’t doubt myself at all, that would be a lie,” she said.

Hawaii was critical for Ko, letting her know that she can still win. Now, while one cannot say she is having her best season yet, Ko is well on her way to probably having something close soon.
