The PIF-PGA Tour merger seems to have picked up pace! The deal has progressed quite a lot since former CEO, Greg Norman‘s departure from the tournament. Delighted by his rival’s exit, even Jay Monahan took a step forward to push it forward. Following Rory McIlroy’s advice, the PGA Tour CEO was accompanied by Adam Scott as the duo sought assistance from Donald Trump to fast-pace the deal.

Now, as one of the roaring faces of the Tour, Tiger Woods has taken the same route. Ahead of his Genesis Invitational opening appearance, the GOAT was spotted shaking hands with the 47th POTUS in Florida a few minutes ago. NUCLR GOLF’s X post spilt the beans.

Captioned, “🚨🇺🇸⛳️ JUST IN: Tiger Woods is golfing in Florida this morning with President Trump, the @AP reports. @TWlegion,” the headline suggested that Tiger Woods was playing golf with Donald Trump in Florida. However, the attached image shows them suited up, and sharing a handshake.

The account shared another tweet a couple of hours later showing the two further playing golf. This time, the tweet said, “🚨🇺🇸👀 #WATCH: President Donald Trump alongside Tiger Woods and his son Charlie – on the range at Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach this morning ahead of a round together. This confirms that not only was Tiger Woods playing with Donald Trump, but his son Charlie Woods had also joined in.

In the video, the two can be seen talking on the course while Junior Woods brushes his swings right ahead. I mean, did they discuss the PIF-PGA Tour merger? Have a look-

This time last year, it would have been highly unlikely for the legendary golfer to discuss the deal. That’s because Tiger Woods has never been in favor of the merger. But like Jay Monahan, he might have also had a change of heart after Norman’s exit. Let’s understand how the GOAT’s opinion has changed.

Tiger Woods’s change of heart

Tiger Woods has long questioned the need for a merger. The GOAT has hosted meetings between the PGA Tour officials and PIF leaders on multiple occasions. But everyone has criticized them for being pointless. Previously, Woods has also vocalized PGA Tour’s self-sufficiency over PIF funding. He believed that the Tour shouldn’t succumb to the pressure of LIV Golf.

The way he saw it, the merger was a no-go as long as Greg Norman was calling the shots at LIV Golf. Woods’ exact words were, “Right now as it is, not right now, not with their leadership, not with Greg there and his animosity towards the Tour itself I don’t see that happening.” The 15x majors winner made this statement back in December 2022.

However, times have changed, Norman left and LIV Golf is set for a season of changed yearned by players and businesses. The GOAT warmly welcomed the new CEO, Scott O’Neil, who was invited to the arena for the inaugural match of TGL. In fact, much to Greg Norman’s dismay, the 82x PGA Tour winner has also endorsed O’Neil. That begs two questions—Is Woods convinced that the merger is good for the PGA Tour? Why do you think Tiger Woods and Donald Trump met each other? Let us know in the comments section.
