With the FedEx Cup approaching its end, and the Ryder Cup right around the corner, the golf community is bustling with excitement. The recently completed BMW Championship had Viktor Hovland win the title, with Scottie Scheffler and Matt Fitzpatrick sharing the second position.

Moving forward with the FedEx Cup, the long-awaited Tour Championship is finally here. In anticipation of the final playoff for the FedEx Cup, the team at Titleist has found the perfect way to lead into the tournament. The team gave golf fans a treat by organizing an exciting one-on-one between Max Homa and this PGA Tour Pro.

Max Homa joins the ‘Club of the Seconds’!

Following the singles match last year, at the President’s Cup, Max Homa and Tom Kim clashed again in a stellar challenge, courtesy of the team at Titleist. However, this time, the challenge was a bit more casual and definitely less elaborate. Last year, in Montreal, when Homa and Kim faced each other, Homa walked away with a 1-up and won.

Picking things up where they left off, Homa and Kim took part in a one-club challenge. Each player was to pick a random card from a deck and, based on it, pick up a club with which the two of them were to play all their shots. Max Homa got a 7-iron and Tom Kim got a 6-iron to go for the battle against each other. The two of them played their way to the same hole, and Homa lost the challenge to Kim.

The 21-year-old golfer was pretty excited to beat Homa and jokingly asked him how it felt to be second. The South Korean golfer admitted how he had been dying to say that to Homa since last year, but he didn’t want to until Montreal!

Homa smiled and exclaimed, “This is my first ever second!” which invoked a hearty laugh from Tom Kim, who ended up welcoming the six-time PGA Tour winner to the club of the seconds. Max Homa admitted it was a tough one. Before they could wrap up, the Titleist team informed them they had time for another hole, and the two readily obliged.

The challenge gets heated on the second hole

This time around, Homa appeared to get back in charge, until he missed the hole by a few inches. Homa asked for a second with himself, and it was almost as if his frustration was real.

On the second hole, too, Kim looked like he had it for a while. However, as he approached the final putt, the South Korean pro missed the hole twice, consecutively.

Homa was reveling in this shot and could not hold back his laughter, and a mini-playoff followed. Finally, Max finished the challenge victoriously and offered to share the cup with Kim. He added an afterthought and said he should still get to take it home, though!

With a victory at the Shriner’s Children’s Open this year and 2 Top 10 finishes in two majors, Tom Kim has displayed good form this year.

But Homa, with his victory at the Fortinet Championship and the Farmers Insurance Open this season, had a one-shot lead over the South Korean pro. He also recently finished at T5 at the BMW Championship last week, making his way into the last leg of the FedEx Playoffs along with Tom Kim.
