The PGA Tour is down to its last signature event of the season. The Travelers Championship is ongoing at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. On June 23rd, the tournament will once again choose their victor but apart from getting a stunning title, how much money do you think the winner will bag?

From the humongous prize pool of $20 million which is pretty standard for every signature event, the winner’s share is a remarkable $3.6 million. The prize money of all the signature events has been quite competitive with its Saudi-backed rival, LIV Golf. The runner-up will thus bag $2.16 million, while the second runner-up will also hit the million bar by receiving $1.36 million.

The field, however, has seen some changes after some recent incidents unfolded. Following Bryson DeChambeau‘s sweeping of the US Open’s cup, a devastated Rory McIlroy ultimately decided to withdraw from the Travelers Championship, initially making the field an odd number. However, the South Korean professional golfer, Byeong Hun An, has also fallen victim to some undisclosed illness following the first round and has subsequently taken his leave from the golf course, making the field of 70 golfers.

Although Rory McIlroy might be off the field list, there are still plenty of stars on the field that you must look out for.

Whom to look out for in the Travelers Championship?

With Scottie Scheffler already setting the PGA Tour’s all-time earnings record with just over $24 million, the golfer has portrayed immense authority over his play and the greens he plays on. He is certainly one of the biggest showstoppers in the field. But it does not rule out players like Xander Schauffele, who has not only won the event before in 2022 but has been imparting great performance this season, especially after bagging the PGA Championship title.

Ever since 2001–02, no one has been able to defend their titles as Phil Mickelson had done at the TPC River Highlands. But last year’s winner, Keegan Bradley, had an emotional bond with the location. According to Golf Digest, “Keegan Bradley returns to defend his crown, an emotional affair in 2023, as this is the tour event that is closest to where he grew up.”

Apart from them, the star-studded field also includes some of the top 10 golfers like Tom Kim, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, and Akshay Bhatia who you might not want to overlook as they sit proudly on top of the leaderboard.
