Asian Tour has announced its 2024 schedule. Unlike this year when Saudi Arabia hosted the season-opener, next year it’s Malaysia’s turn to hold the inaugural event. Furthermore, the Asian Tour will stop in nine nations making inroads in Morocco for the international series event. 

The Asian Tour integrated with the International series will start on February 15, two weeks after LIV Golf starts at Mayakoba, Mexico. On the other hand, the International series with an elevated purse size of $23 million will kick off in Oman. There will be a total of 17 events. However, two events’ dates are yet to be announced. Let’s take a look at the top five events of the Tour.

Five Asian Tour Events You Can’t Give a Miss

Malaysian Open

The Asian Tour will kick off with the Malaysian Open. The $1 million event starts on 15th February with a field size of 144. However, the venue is yet to be confirmed for the opening event. American Pro, Trevor Simsby is the defending champion.

Saudi Open by PIF

Saudi Open by PIF will tee off on April 17. The US $1, 000,000 event, will be hosted at the Riyadh Golf Club in Saudi Arabia. This year, Thai teenager Denwit Boriboonsub, edged past veteran Majesticks GC Co-captain Henrik Stenson for a three-stroke victory. Although this year the Saudi Open was the season-ender, it has been moved to mid-season next year.

SJM Macao Open

Teeing off on October 10, at the Macau Golf and Country Club, the SMJ Macao Open will have a purse size of $1,000,000. Last year, Australian golfer Min Woo Lee netted his second career victory here by cruising past Poom Saksansin by three shots. The Australian also recorded a 30-under finish to create a tournament record.

Indonesian Masters

The $2 million purse event will tee off at the Royale Jakarta Golf Club. with a field size of 144. The Indonesian Masters starts on October 31. This year, Gaganjeet Bhullar of India shot 4-under 67 to finish five shots ahead of his compatriot, Karandeep Kochar.

International Series Qatar

The 2024 Asian Tour will end with the International Series Qatar. The $2,500,000 purse event will start on November 28. Doha Golf Club will host the 120-men field event. Last year, Andy Ogletree emerged victorious with 7-under 281 to move to the top of the International Order of Merit. A position he retained till the end of the 2023 season to move back to the LIV Golf fold. The 2019 U.S. Amateur Open winner has since then joined Phil Mickelson’s Hyflyers Gc.

Aside from these, the Hong Kong Open with a purse size of $2 million is slated to be added sometime soon. Furthermore, the Asian Tour has also announced that the $5 million purse Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers will also return. But the dates for these two events are yet to be confirmed.
