In the video about the golf legend that the PGA Tour recently released, ‘The Tiger Effect,’ Phelps spoke about what made Woods great. “Pushing the barriers and trying to do something beyond belief,” he said, describing perfectly the extraordinary heights the golf pro had attained in the sport.

Phelps believed that the 15-time major winner was always thinking beyond the present. “Every little detail that you can possibly imagine, think of,” he stated. “He’s already five steps ahead of you.” And perhaps the Olympian was right. Woods had, after all, on multiple occasions outplayed his opponents and outlasted them on the course!

The 23-time Olympic gold medalist claimed that what he loved most about Woods was that he could achieve the impossible. And of course, coming from the highest-decorated man himself, this was no ordinary praise! “He’s been able to do things that are absolutely unthinkable,” said Phelps. “And that’s what we love.”

The swimmer had, in fact, witnessed Woods firsthand achieve the “unthinkable.” After all, he was present at Augusta in 2019 when the golf champion bagged his 15th major, defying all odds. Phelps watched from just yards away when Woods’ sank his putt on the 18th, hoping to win his fifth Green Jacket. “I’m getting chills right now,” he had said soon after the event to NBC Sports.
