Sahith Theegala is a new name on the PGA Tour. Theegala was part of the field this week at the 2022 Waste Management Phoenix Open. He was playing the event week with the help of the sponsors’ exemption.

Sahith Theegala breaks into tears at the 2022 WM Phoenix Open

Golf is truly a game of emotions. Professional golfers often try to keep their nerves calm and try to not show their emotions. But sometimes it is too difficult not to express what the professional is feeling or going through. Sahith Theegala entered the final round with a one-shot lead over the defending champion, Brooks Koepka.

Coming into the week with a sponsors exemption, Sahith has certainly made a big name for himself, despite not winning after leading the event for 54 holes and could not control his emotions and burst into tears. He also shared an emotional moment with his parents.

Theegala broke into tears after finishing his final round of the 2022 Waste Management Phoenix Open. After submitting his scorecard, he met with his parents, who were there to support the young professional. As soon as Sahith hugged his mother, he burst into tears as he missed the opportunity to play in the play-off by just one stroke.

It was really heartwarming to see the 24-year-old professional in tears. The way he expressed his emotions depicts how much he loves the sport.

 

Theegalas’ mother consoled him and gave him a warm hug. Theegala was also cheered by his fans, for the brilliant game and fight he displayed throughout the week. Well, this is what golf is about and while you can not always win, it is clear that the 24-year-old has a bright future ahead of him.

Theegala’s final round summary

Theegala carded a final round of 70, one-under-par. The 24-year-old carded two birdies and one bogey on the front nine, as a result, making the turn in one-under-par, 34. Theegala made two birdies and two bogeys to shoot an even-par final round. As a result, finished at tied third position.
