Tiger Woods’ popularity and reach extend within the professional golf circle as well. While fans follow the PGA Tour legend with dedication, so do other pros. This includes LPGA icon Jessica Korda, who has been a fan since childhood.

Though Woods is currently recovering and has no timetable for a return, he has been active for over two decades. Korda, 29, turned professional in 2010. Naturally, the LPGA star has followed Woods since she was a child.

“We grew up watching him. We’re you know,(at the) chipping green trying to just like drip the golf balls into the hole and he did at the Masters,” she said. “And, you know, make the cuts that Tiger made”.

Furthermore, Korda added that Woods was ‘inspirational’ as they grew up. Of course, one cannot deny all the things Woods has done for the game of golf.

That being said, the six-time LPGA Tour winner was being interviewed before the Hall of Fame ceremony. With Woods being inducted this year, Korda and a few other golfers spoke about the 46-year-old and how he influenced them.

Apart from Korda, Collin Morikawa, Matt Fitzpatrick, Abraham Ancer and Victor Hovland also spoke about their connection with the 15-time major winner.

When is the Hall of Fame ceremony?

Now, while Korda shares her Woods story, she also mentions a bit about the World Golf Hall of Fame ceremony. Aware of Woods’ hold as an icon, Korda added that she thought he would have been inducted sooner.

The event will take place on March 9, just one day before the Players Championship commences in Florida. Susie Maxwell Berning, Marion Hollins, and Tim Finchem will be other greats honored alongside Woods.

On her end, Jessica Korda is also currently recovering from an injury. She withdrew from the LPGA Drive On Championship and is nursing a rib injury. Though she is shooting and practicing again, it might be some time before she returns to play an event.

With both Woods and Korda currently recovering, golf fans are eager to see them play again. After all, Korda’s influence on the LPGA Tour is massive. Hopefully, with the right amount of rest and practice, both Korda and Woods will be back on the course and competing soon enough.
