PGA Hope makes an effort to heal military veterans through Golf 

Spread across all the 50 states within America, PGA Hope is designed for those patriots who have served the country and have now returned home. It is a curriculum scheduled for 6-8 weeks where both Active Duty Military and Veterans are instructed in golf by PGA professionals who were also trained regarding military cultural competency.

The PGA Head Professional of Elmwood Country Club, Pete Stefanchik, revealed how he finds the title of the program absolutely apt. He stated, The PGA Hope program was the perfect name for the program. Helping our Patriots everywhere. Golf can be and will be the bridge to helping these guys heal.

He also talked about how veteran often battles with their inner demons, and by indulging in a sport like golf, they can very well be away from those stressful chains of thoughts they have to deal with usually.

The official website has pointed out how the program has reached out to about 17000 veterans and active duty military this year. 3000 PGA professionals are also hired to help and teach this many patriots. The statistics also record PGA offers around 500 programs nationwide. It has also been claimed that to honor the patriots, a day is dedicated, PGA REACH recognizes Veterans Day as the PGA National Day of HOPE. On this day, PGA REACH works in partnership with the golf community to celebrate and honor our nation’s heroes as well as spread awareness about the PGA HOPE program.”

Moreover, the PGA Hope program recognizes how veteran suicide can be one of the toughest and increasing concerns. They also emphasized how every day, the nation loses almost 22 veterans through suicide. Hence, the program deliberately promotes awareness about how they can contribute to the veteran community by introducing golf as a therapy.
