Westwood first met Helen Storey, now Mrs. Westwood, through his friend Graham Wylie back in 2015. By then, Westwood was separated from his ex-wife, Laurae Colart. Graham Wylie, the owner of the Close House Golf Club in Newcastle, introduced Storey as his wife’s sister. The couple dated for a long time and got married in Las Vegas before Westwood’s US Open participation in 2021.

The couple often shares each other’s photos on their social media. Westwood had shared a photo of his wife on International Women’s Day where he addressed her as “wife/caddie/coach.” Previously, he had also shown the reality of having his wife on the greens with him and how little things she says mean a lot to him. According to the Guardian, Lee Westwood has stated what the couple really talks about on the golf course. Westwood confessed, “Dinner, where we’re going on holiday.”

He further mentioned a story: “You’d be surprised the sort of things we talk about out there. The favorite one was from Denmark the first week she caddied for me and I took out a divot because it was big and soft and she’s walking back with the divot. I said, ‘What’s wrong?’ She said, ‘I hope there’s not a worm in this.’ It makes me smile. It’s a big advantage.”

Westwood has also joked about turning his 2021 US Women’s Week into his honeymoon, but it would have been something that the wife would not have been happy with. Yet, Westood said how relaxed their relationship is together. He revealed, “She might kind of give me the elbow a bit more often, but it’s a very relaxed relationship anyway. We just enjoy ourselves, trying to have a good time out there.”

Helen Westwood as her husband’s caddie

It was September 2018 when Westwood’s wife caddied for him at the Made in Denmark competition. Back then, Westwood’s usual caddie, Billy Foster, had a week off. With Storey by his side, Westwood had a wonderful performance, one of his best that season. In the year the couple got married, Lee Westwood went as high as the runner-up at the 2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational, with his partner as his caddie.

Later, the golfer revealed what he truly feels about his wife and how she is related to golf. He said, “She doesn’t know too much about golf, but she knows a lot about the way my mind works. So she keeps me in a good frame of mind and focusing on the right things at the right time. There’s more to caddying than carrying and getting the wind direction. Get the yardage, pull the club; it’s all my responsibility, and I’m 100% clear in my mind what I’m doing.”

The LIV Golf team’s official X handle, Majesticks GC, has also recently shared an announcement about his wife continuing to caddie for him in the upcoming LIV Nashville. They said, “Helen, wife of @WestwoodLee returns on the bag this week in Nashville #LIVGolf #LIVNashville #MajesticksGC.”

Helen Westwood knows her husband well. And as was revealed by Westwood earlier, he does not want to have a caddie who helps him with the technical stuff. Helen Wetwood once said, “He doesn’t like being told what to do.” She further added, “If he makes a decision and it’s wrong or he makes a decision and it’s right, he has to own it. He can only be upset with himself.”

However, Westwood is also extremely proud of his wife. He mentioned with much high praise for her that she is extremely fit, unlike her. During the 2021 Master’s at Augusta National Golf Course, the couple found it challenging on the hilly topography. Westwood did not hesitate to confess that he was not able to do it easily. He said, “I walked around Augusta last year; it’s so hilly. I came out of it worn out. She’s up and down the hills. She’s a fit lady.”

In reply, Helen Westwood also revealed that she was indeed a fit person, but the greens at Augusta gave her a hard time as well. She reflected, “I’m a fit person, but when I get to the top (at No. 8), I feel like I’ve smoked 40 cigarettes a day. It’s heaving on your chest.”
