“Thanks LPGA giving me this great opportunity,” Wei-Ling Hsu tweeted soon after getting her Tour card. Back then, she was only a young golfer trying to climb up the ladder of professional golf. It was a time when Inbee Park was the world’s best golfer. An 18-year-old Lydia Ko was chasing her in close second. But the new name in golf had taken the spotlight, albeit temporarily, after an incredible season a year ago.
Don’t remember whom we’re talking about? Perhaps you might recollect Hsu’s win at the 2021 Pure Silk Championship? Well, we don’t want to reveal anything too early. So let’s just get to know the Taiwanese national who has caught everyone’s attention again.

Rising the ranks once again
Born on October 20, 1994, in the capital of Taiwan, Wei-Ling Hsu was only 7 when she showed interest in golf. She had a very supportive mother and an outstanding coach to push her to pursue golf professionally. Hsu seems to be a private person and keeps her family life separate from the fame she has achieved on the course.
However, what we do know is that she turned pro in 2012. Hsu had also tied for fifth in the Callaway World Cup that same year. From then till the time she joined the LPGA Tour, she had won three titles as a professional golfer. Two of them came in 2014 on the Symetra Tour, which helped her finish sixth in the season rankings. That is how she earned her Tour card.
In the last 10 years on the LPGA Tour, the Taipei citizen has made 156 cuts. Her best finish was definitely the Pure Silk Championship presented by Visit Williamsburg tournament. In the last edition of the tournament, Wei-Ling Hsu beat Moriya Jutanugarn and Jessica Korda to grab her first and only win in 2021. That’s not the only connection the 30-year-old has with the Jutanugarn sisters. In 2018, when Hsu had her best major finish at T5, it was Ariya Jutanugarn who had won the tournament.
Coming back to 2021, the victory in the Pure Silk Championship was very special for her. After securing the title, Hsu said that she has “achieved her lifelong dream of winning on the LPGA Tour for the first time.” It must have been an emotional moment for her, especially because she came close to winning another event sponsored by the same brand in 2018, the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic. Hsu came close to capturing the title but was only outplayed by Brittany Lincicome at the Ocean Club Golf Course.

She was in great form in 2024, getting three top 10 finishes in 16 cuts. That added nearly $500k to her total career earnings so far. But that’s not what her life is all about. Wei-Ling Hsu also leads an active social life as illustrated on her social media. Let’s see what she likes to do when she’s not teeing off on the course.
Living the dream with Wei-Ling Hsu
Wei-Ling Hsu has already achieved her dream of winning on the LPGA Tour. But off the course, there is a lot more to her than just golf. For instance, she is an avid baseball follower. Hsu has shared a few pictures of her either with a baseball player, on the pitch, or just showing support for her favorites. That’s not her only sports inclination. One of the pictures also shows that she might enjoy football as well as she visited an empty Lambeau Field. The 1x LPGA Tour winner has also been seen posing on bowling alleys, angling with a fishing rod, and living life on the edge while hiking.

There are a lot of pictures of Hsu posing with golfers and legends. One of her most recent posts shows her with Gary Player. However, considering the number of posts she had made from the 2024 Paris Olympics, we can assume Wei-Ling Hsu’s best memories come from representing her country in golf.
