In 2024, Xander Schauffele finally achieved his dream after years of near misses. He won the first major of his career in the form of the PGA Championship. Schauffele did so by beating the mad scientist, Bryson DeChambeau, in a nail-biting contest. Lifting the Wanamaker Trophy helped the 31-year-old gain confidence to go in for the second major, the Open Championship, later that year. But it also gave him the opportunity to host the prestigious Champions Dinner in 2025.
As the clock ticks down to tee off at Quail Hollow, Schauffele will welcome all the past champions and their families for an exclusive dinner preceding this year’s PGA Championship. Only a few minutes ago, the menu for the same was revealed on X. Golf Digest tweeted, “Xander Schauffele’s PGA Champion’s dinner. 🍽️,” with a picture that showed the complete menu Schauffele has decided for his Champions Dinner.
The menu was extensive, with multiple options available for the guests to choose from. The appetizers included Smoked Goat Cheese Dates with pistachio and prosciutto, Pickled Watermelon with feta and jalapeno, Clams Casino Shooters, and Steak and Bleu Cheese Crostini.

For the main, Schauffele has chosen to serve Wagyu NY Strip with blackened jump shrimp, blue cheese gremolata, frizzled onions, whipped sweet potato, and bourbon bone marrow reduction.
Lastly, for dessert, the world no. 3 has gone with Banana Splits, which includes salted vanilla gelato, Luxardo whipped cream, bruleed banana, crushed peanuts, rum sauce, and chocolate-dipped wafer. Alternatively, guests can also choose Strawberry Shortcake with sweet biscuit, vanilla bean whipped cream, Chambord syrup, and fresh strawberries.

As appetizing as that menu sounds, it still seemed as underwhelming for a Champions Dinner as some of Xander Schauffele’s recent performances. Or at least that’s what the internet believes.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Xander Schauffele's Champions Dinner menu as lackluster as his 2025 golf performance?

Netizens bash Xander Schauffele’s mediocre Champions Dinner spread
Xander Schauffele hasn’t been in great form in 2025. And with a subpar Champions Dinner menu celebrating his first major win, one fan couldn’t help but comment, “This is so weak just like Xander’s game this year.” Seems like the 31-year-old is struggling on the course and at the plate this year.
There was a general opinion that the menu was average at best for such a prestigious dinner. One fan said, “Who the fook eats this kinda 💩?” Earlier this year, Scottie Scheffler‘s 2025 Champions Dinner had also received the same kind of feedback from fans, where they called out the pro golfer over his lack of taste and the money he poured over the Dinner. For the Dinner that was set to take place on April 8, the 28-year-old served Scottie-style cheeseburger sliders, firecracker shrimp, Papa Scheffe’s meatball, and ravioli bites for appetizers.

Now, this was eerily similar to what he had already served in 2023- be it the first course, main course, or the dessert- and the fans didn’t hold back in calling out Scheffler’s $108 per plate arrangement. Seems like both Scheffler and Schauffele couldn’t present a dinner menu that was befitting the glorious occasion.
There were fans who were also more critical of some specific dishes on the menu. As one of them pointed out, “I get the Wagyu NY Strip, all about that. But pickled watermelon?🤢” The pickled watermelon was an absurd choice for an appetizer, according to them. Perhaps it might not be as absurd as the strokeplay Schauffele has displayed in 2025, with only one top 10 finish in the 7 cuts he has made this year.
Surprised by the odd celebration, one fan mentioned, “Noone should be doing this outside Augusta.” They were not in favor of a Champions Dinner other than the one organized for the Masters champion. Interestingly, the tradition of the PGA Championship Champions Dinner has been followed since 1965. However, we wouldn’t disagree with the fact that it might be an imitation of the Masters Champions Dinner, which first started in 1952.

Another fan also had something similar to share as they commented, “Lane dinner for an even lamer ‘major’.” Their criticism was not limited to Schauffele’s menu choices, as they believe the PGA Championship as a whole is not as exciting as the Masters Tournament.
Schauffele’s odd choices for his Champions Dinner surprised some of his loyal fans as well. Someone commented, “I used to like him. Thanks for ruining it,” suggesting that the terrible dinner menu might have convinced them to stop supporting the world no. 3. Looks like Xander Schauffele might have just lost a subscriber to ‘OnlyXans’ after his Champions Dinner menu reveal. Do you think he deserved such harsh criticism?
