Dustin Johnson has steadily become a renowned name in the golfing community. Ever since he turned pro in 2007, fans have had their eyes on him. Winning the 2016 US Open went a long way into engraving his name in golf history.

But it has not always been a rosy picture for the golfer. There have been times when he has not been up to scratch. The ongoing US Open is a case in point to this.

Fortunately, Dustin Johnson has his wife Paulina Gretzky to lean on. He finds his solace in her presence, amid the tremendous professional burden he needs to conquer.

Dustin Johnson finds peace in leaning on his wife

The daughter of the epic hockey icon, Wayne Gretzky married Dustin Johnson over a year ago in 2022. Paulina started dating Dustin a little before the commencement of the 2013 PGA Tour. Their whirlwind romance hit their fans by surprise, but they couldn’t help but gush about what an adorable couple they make.

Two years later, the cover girl of Golf Digest and her beau welcomed their first-born son in 2015. The Cheetah was beyond happy and soon after, during the 2016 US Open, he managed to earn the winning title. Back then, the total prize purse for the US Open was $10 million, 18% of which was awarded to Johnson. It was as though the universe favored the prestigious golfer and kept rewarding him and his spouse with incredible surprises. The following year, they welcomed their second-born son, and a year after that, Johnson secured the Number 1 position, that he held for four years straight.

Since their initial days of dating, the NHL star’s eldest daughter has been a comforting presence in Dustin’s life. Now, in 2023, when the US Open decided to expand its purse further to $20 million, Dustin seems tensed. This year, even though the percentage of prize money for the winner remains at 18%, the sum just went up to $3.6 million. It is double the amount that Dustin Johnson took home during his last win at the US Open in 2016. Although the amount would hardly create a dent in his fortune, what bothers Dustin more is his shot at the title.

At times like this, he finds reassurance with his wife. The ‘Miss You Later’ singer posted a picture on her Instagram story to show her support for her husband. Her sweet gesture made him smile.

The picture shows the couple posing side by side with a beautiful and serene backdrop. Undoubtedly Paulina shared this particular picture to remind him that she is always beside him no matter the circumstances or the distance between them. Plus the tranquility in the background is bound to calm his mind and help him focus.

Paulina has always a pillar of support for her husband

With higher stakes comes higher competition. Every player partaking in the 2023 US Open is equally motivated to win. Dustin Johnson hasn’t been at his best game this year. With five strokes behind, The Cheetah doesn’t seem to be feeling his best ‘Number 1’ self.

Gretsky came to his rescue just as she has countless times over the years. Even before they got marriedand started a family, she has always been by his side starting with the PGA Championship in 2013. She was at the game cheering him on, and sharing an appreciative kiss or two on the course on several occasions after the event.

When he won the US Open championship at Oakmont Club back in 2016, she was right by his side. Her gesture at the time had subliminal implications as well. Not only was she there to support him but to carry the weight of the responsibility to win. They held the cup together and shared an ‘awww’-inspiring kiss.

Now with a lagging performance, it seems he really needs her support, and Paulina was there to lift his spirits. The encouragement from his wife sure helped ease his troubles. Maybe with her appreciative gesture, Johnson will find new motivation and deliver a miraculous performance to earn the title at the US Open once again.
