Mick Schumacher has been impressive so far in his rookie year in Formula 1 this season. The German has out-performed his teammate, Nikita Mazepin, in virtually every race so far.

Unfortunately, during the last race before the summer breaks at Hungary, Schumacher crashed his Haas in FP3. And because of the damage his car sustained in that crash, he was forced to miss the qualifying session.

Haas team boss Guenther Steiner was understandably furious with the German, stating that drivers should be smart enough to know FP3 is not the right time to take risks.

Mick Schumacher started the Hungarian GP rock bottom of the grid. However, after the first lap mayhem, the German covered his lost ground and quickly made his way into the top 10 and was ahead of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.

The young German showcased massive resilience to hold both the title contenders for several laps. Eventually, Schumacher finished the race P13. However, Ralf Schumacher believes there’s plenty of positive to take from the race for Mick. Moreover, the German hopes that Steiner apologizes to his nephew after a solid performance in Budapest.

“Mick Schumacher was significantly stronger than his teammate. He made no mistake under stress with Hamilton and Verstappen behind him. I just want to hope that his team boss Guenther Steiner apologized to Mick or quickly apologized,” wrote Ralf Schumacher in his post-race review for Sky Germany.
