Frank Mir puts a word out and says he’s a free agent.
Frank Mir, the former UFC heavyweight champion still has one fight to go as per his Bellator contractual agreement. The fight is outstanding despite the contract expiring on the 1st of April.
The fight remains as it is due to the current pandemic our world is currently facing. This pandemic has put the entire sporting world on pause. It has postponed everything until we have a clearer picture of where we stand in terms of a cure. This has prevented Mir and Bellator from fulfilling their commitment to one another.

Instead of this situation putting both the parties in conflict, they’ve sat down and discussed it. They’ve come to a mutual agreement without causing a strain. Speaking on his own podcast, Mir told his co-host that he’s come to an agreement with the Bellator president Scott Coker. He will be released from his contract and will also honor his last fight as per the deal.

Frank Mir said,” Basically I had a good conversation with Scott Coker,” I’m still going to have a fight with them, just because there’s a fight left on my fight contract. Scott was very easy to talk to about it – their company’s shut down, he hasn’t even left his house in three weeks – so, once they startup, there’s going to be a backlog of fights because they have so many fighters on their roster.”
Owing to the fact that Bellator has completely shut down and will resume shop only once the lockdown has been lifted, they will have a lot of fights lined up. Adding his fight to this list won’t be an issue at all. And also he will get a well-deserved send-off.

Frank Mir speaking of his current status said, “So now I’m basically, not basically, I am a free agent. Even though I would still do fights for Bellator, I’m not beholden to any contract to anybody now. So I can try out the free market and see whoever opens up to fighting first.”
