Some banter ensued recently between the two players when Tsitsipas shared Kyrgios’ phone number on Twitter. This happened for the second time during the pandemic. Tsitsipas even compared Kyrgios with the nine-time Grand Slam winner and legendary American tennis player John McEnroe. Many believe that just like McEnroe, Kyrgios is also a complicated but fun player. He has the sarcasm that McEnroe used to have at one point. McEnroe had also been a part of some controversies, much like Kyrgios frequently is.
“Sometimes, he doesn’t know what he is doing. He reminds me of John McEnroe. We need people like him in tennis, to make it more unpredictable,” said the 22-year-old Greek.
