The ICC Cricket World Cup is considered as one of the biggest cricketing events in the world. The tournament has been running on a quadrennial basis since 1975 and will be entering its 12th edition this year. For the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, 10 countries will square off to win the Cricket World Cup.

Since the championship’s inception in 1975, six nations have gone the distance to become World Cup champions. The World Cup has taken place across different eras and different formats. The ICC World Cup 2019 holds no exception, and promises to be one of the most exciting and hotly contested world cups. The hosts, England will certainly be the favourites, with their consistent form and a well-balanced squad.

Bangladesh team’s World Cup History

Bangladesh was another latecomer to the Cricket World Cup party, debuting in 1999. However, they never made it past the group stages, except for the 2007 World Cup. At that time, there were 16 teams, as opposed to 10 teams in 2019. The Tigers made it as far as the ‘Super 8’. Then, in 2015, the team, largely considered ‘minnows’, shrug off that moniker and entered the quarterfinals.

Like Afghanistan, New Zealand and Sri Lanka, the Bangladesh team has been largely untouched since their announcement. In other words, there have been no injury woes surrounding the Tigers

Captain and Vice Captain

Mashrafe Mortaza leads the Bangladesh team in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Standing in as the vice captain will be former captain, Shakib Al Hasan.

Batsmen

Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah and Sabbir Rahman represent the batting firepower of the Bangladesh squad.

Wicketkeeper

Mushfiqur Rahim is the first choice wicket keeper for the Tigers for the World Cup. However, he will have competition from the likes of Liton Das and Mohammad Mithun.

Allrounders

Shakib Al Hasan leads the allrounders attack along with Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Soumya Sarkar, Mohammad Saifuddin and Mosaddek Hossain.

Bowlers

Skipper Mortaza spearheads the bowling unit alongside the likes of Mustafizur Rahman, Abu Jayed and Rubel Hossain

Conclusion

The Bangladesh World Cup 2019 squad has a decent mix of youth and experience and will be aiming for an improvement from 2015. They are eager to prove that they can punch above their weight and secure good results
