Red Bull driver Max Verstappen is aware that the Hungaroring is a circuit that suits them. However, he refused to be cocky. He admitted that they will have to ‘wait and see’ if they can compete with Ferrari and Mercedes.

The Dutchman ended Free Practice 1 third fastest and 0.074 seconds behind Sebastian Vettel in Free Practice 2. However, Verstappen is concerned about the lack of pace on the straights.

Max knows that to set a good lap time in Hungary a good balance is necessary. The 20-year old said that the car was good but there is still time lost on the straights.

He said that the RB14 is quite strong in sector 2 because of the tight and twisty nature of the section.

Verstappen, Ricciardo and company will certainly analyse the data to get a better understanding before Sunday. He noticed that Mercedes are not comfortable on the Ultrasofts but he expects them to get on top of it. Mercedes’ power gains for this weekend is also a mystery as they were competitive in the long runs.

Verstappen will be gunning for pole position this weekend. If he does bag pole, he will be the youngest ever pole-sitter. The previous holder of the title was Sebastian Vettel when he took pole in Monza 2008
