Red Bull driver Max Verstappen is aware that the Hungaroring is a circuit that suits them. However, he refused to be cocky. He admitted that they will have to ‘wait and see’ if they can compete with Ferrari and Mercedes.

The Dutchman ended Free Practice 1 third fastest and 0.074 seconds behind Sebastian Vettel in Free Practice 2. However, Verstappen is concerned about the lack of pace on the straights.

Max knows that to set a good lap time in Hungary a good balance is necessary. The 20-year old said that the car was good but there is still time lost on the straights.

He said, “I am not sure if the strengths in cornering will be enough to compensate for this, so we shall have to wait and see.”

Inspite of a strong Friday, Verstappen admitted that work they still need to work on the set-up. Only then can they challenge for pole position.

He said that the RB14 is quite strong in sector 2 because of the tight and twisty nature of the section.

So far this season, tyres have been the deciding factor on race day. Verstappen confesses that they must ensure proper tyre management. He also believes that Mercedes will come a threat as the weekend progresses.
