A bizarre incident occurred while the Indian Wells 2019 tournament was underway. A few hours ago, Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina got the shock of their lives while relaxing together. The Ukrainian later tweeted about the incident which occurred sometime in the evening.

As it turned out, the couple were in their hotel room when four policemen barged in. The incident also occurred sometime before Monfils was expected to play. However, it later turned out that Monfils had retired from his Indian Wells 2019 match against Dominic Thiem.

Later, the News Channel 3 website clarified the situation and the police activity. As it turned out, there were reports of shooting at the Indian Wells branch of the Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa.

The police conducted thorough searches on every room in the hotel, but fortunately, there was no evidence of any kind of shooting. During the search, the hotel guests were evacuated.

The Riverside county sheriff department later tweeted about the incident and reason for the police activity.

Svitolina will next play against Canada’s Bianca Andreescu tomorrow at 7AM. The 24-year old defeated Sofia Kenin, Daria Gavrilova, Ashleigh Barty and Marketa Vondrousova en-route to her Indian Wells 2019 semifinal clash with Andreescu.
