Danish driver Christian Lundgaard will make his IndyCar debut in the upcoming weekend at Indianapolis with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. The Alpine academy driver might be looking to make his mark in the motorsport elsewhere, as opportunities in F1 are closing down.
With Esteban Ocon signing a deal till 2024, and Fernando Alonso is also expected to extend his stay with the French team. Lundgaard might consider other racing series to make a name for himself.

The 20-year-old is currently racing in F2 with ART Grand Prix. The Danish driver finds himself in twelfth place with just twenty-eight points. However, with a new opportunity coming up this weekend, Lundgaard is hoping to show what he has behind the wheel at Indianapolis.

The co-owner of the team, Bobby Rahal, said, “We were very pleased with the job that Christian did at our recent test at Barber Motorsports Park and are looking forward to seeing him perform at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.”

What does the Alpine graduate think of this opportunity?
With the hopes of driving in F1 with Alpine diminishing. The 20-year-old hopes to take his talent to IndyCar, where he would aim to make a name for himself. Speaking ahead of his debut in IndyCar, Lundgaard stated that he is feeling confident and is looking forward to battle it out with other drives on the grid.

He said, “I’m super excited to try IndyCar next week. I’ve been very fortunate so far in my career to drive some incredible race cars and I’m looking forward to officially adding IndyCar to that list.
“In preparation for this race, I tested the car, and it felt pretty awesome and I’m sure it will feel even better at a race weekend in race conditions alongside all the hugely talented drivers in the field,” the 20-year-old explained.
