It’s Sunday the 13th of June and in one way or the other history was created at the French Open 2021. On one side, we had World No. 1 Novak Djokovic up against first-time finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas. Both players are familiar with each other’s games and the Serb leads the head-to-head tally. Today, Novak Djokovic won the match 6-7 (6), 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.
As the first set began, both players were holding their service games with sheer perfection. In the 10th game of the set, Novak Djokovic broke Stefanos Tsitsipas for the first time. However, the Greek player returned the favor and broke right back to send the set into a tiebreaker. After 72 minutes, Stefanos clinched the set 7-6 (6).

In the following set, the Greek star was riding on the momentum and got the early break. To add salt to the Serb’s wounds, he broke the 18-time Grand Slam winner for the second time and sealed the set 6-2. However, like all great players, Djokovic found a way and snatched the third set 6-3.
Things were getting interesting once again as the match entered into the fourth set. The Serb continued to power himself in the fourth set too and in 32 minutes he wrapped it up 6-2 to send the match into the final deciding set. In the decider, the Serb came on top, winning the set 6-4.

As Novak settles into Wii tennis mode and refuses to miss again, just a reminder that a Nole win keeps the Grand Slam in play for 2021. Last male player to win the 1st 2 majors was Novak in 2016. Before that, it was Jim Courier in 1992. It hasn’t happened often.
