The qualifying session of the Canadian Grand Prix 2019 was not a particularly good day in the office for Alfa Romeo. After Kimi Raikkonen went as high as 6th in practice 1, it was back to square one in the following two sessions.

Things only got worse when qualifying came around as Raikkonen was eliminated in Q1 itself. Meanwhile, teammate Antonio Giovinazzi was eliminated in Q2 after Kevin Magnussen crashed out and brought out the red flag. So, the Italian was unable to improve his track time.

Afterwards, Raikkonen was interviewed about the lack of pace displayed by the Alfa Romeo. The interviewer termed it as a hangover for the car from the last race.

Then, in another classic Kimi Raikkonen response, the Finn said, “I wished that at least I had a hangover, but I’m not making a complaint”.

The 39-year old veteran will start the Canadian Grand Prix from 17th on the grid. Meanwhile, teammate, Giovinazzi starts 12th, and close to the edge of the top 10.
