Drama is at its peak in the French Open 2020. More specifically around the Philippe Chatrier court. The first-round match between Laura Siegemund and Kristina Mladenovic is turning out to be absolutely entertaining for the fans across the globe. For the French fans, it is a nail-biting episode of tennis as their compatriot is tussling to go further up in the tournament.
The former world number 10, Mladenovic was comfortably leading against Siegemund. Confident to clinch the first set, Mladenovic was 5-1 up against the German. However, the 32-year-old went on to turn the tides and win the set 7-5. Quite impressive it might sound, however, there was quite a controversy involved in the first set.
Laura Siegemund allegedly returned a drop shot after two drops. Ethically the drop shot earns Mladenovic the set point. However, the appeal was ruled out and Siedemund was handed over the point. Following this incident, Kristina choked as she failed to convert 6 set points. Ultimately, she handed over the first set to the German. The scoreline read 7-5 in favor of Laura Siegemund.

“Mladenovic choked badly and had 6 SPs after that incident, but again, this shouldn’t happen with it’s an easy problem to solve.”
“Laura Siegemund saved seven points to win the first set, 7-5, over Kiki Mladenovic, but did the German *truly* earn the comeback? A missed call and lack of sportsmanship would suggest otherwise”, the tweet read.
