Reigning 6 times Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton took to Instagram to air his views about the Coronavirus pandemic. He slammed the people who continue to flout government-imposed restrictions. 

Lewis Hamilton: Those who are still going out are Selfish and Irresponsible

On his Instagram story, Hamilton expressed grief over the Coronavirus fatalities all over the world. He said that many people are clueless about what it is and how it came about. Hamilton himself is in self-isolation after it emerged. He was in close proximity to Idris Elba and Sophie Trudeau, both of who tested positive for the Coronavirus. Hamilton has not displayed any symptoms and assured fans he feels fine. 

The Briton’s words have weight as medical professionals do not have a sure shot cure for the Coronavirus. The 6 time World Champion branded those who are still going about their day to day lives as irresponsible and selfish.

Hamilton concludes his first story with a message saying he is praying for both his family, the world and the ones who keep the country running amidst these troubled times. This includes grocery people, healthcare professionals, delivery professionals, and law enforcement. 

Hamilton: Use the time to evaluate your life

With the world in quarantine, the rush of daily life has stopped. Hamilton urged his followers to take advantage of this, pause and assess their lives. “We may want to change things moving forward,” writes Hamilton. 

He indicates that the pandemic provides a lesson to each and everyone out there. It teaches us the importance of health, hygiene and how to treat ourselves as life is precious. Hamilton signs off with a message hoping that moving forwards the world does not take this life for granted.

Coronavirus has disrupted sporting tournaments all over the globe. The 2020 Formula one season was set to resume in Azerbaijan, but the race has been canceled.  Canada is set to kick off the season, but who knows, the Montreal race could be canceled next. The North American nation recently pulled out of the Olympics. Should racing resume in Canada, Hamilton will be in familiar territory having tasted victory 7 times at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
