Hamilton was already having a wretched day with two spins and wrecking his front wing in the first spin. Luckily, he was just across the pit entry, the bad news was that the Mercedes team were caught completely by surprise as they were not expecting him to pit. As a result, the British driver lost nearly a minute in the pits.
