Uruguay striker Luis Suarez shared a beautiful message for Leo Messi following Argentina’s shocking exit from the FIFA World Cup. Team-mates at Barcelona, these two are great off-field mates and the message will give you real friendship goals.
Speaking to Cadena COPE following Uruguay’s triumph over Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, Suarez said,” As a friend of Leo, and putting myself in his skin, it’s been a very complicated day. I don’t wish that on anybody. I’ll support him as a friend and teammate so that he gets his head back up as soon as possible.”
Messi has had to endure a terrible few years with his national side, losing out to Germany and Chile in the finals of 3 successive international tournaments between 2014 and 2016. His exceptional hat-trick against Bolivia ensured that Argentina would make it through to the finals of the World Cup but the side flattered to deceive during their stay in Russia.
They started their campaign with a 1-1 draw with minnows Iceland, lost 3-0 to Luka Modric’s Croatia and somehow won 2-1 against Nigeria to make it through to the Round of 16. However, despite putting on a brave effort and having good luck, they lost out 4-3 to France in the Knockout game which ended their run at this year’s Mundial.
Uruguay, on the other hand, has been flawless so far and will be looking forward to facing mighty France in the quarterfinals on 6th June.
