Luke Shaw scored the decisive goal in Manchester United’ season-opening victory over Leicester City. The other goal scorer was captain Paul Pogba.

The defender has had a fairly positive pre-season and netted the first goal of his senior career. This ensured that the Reds made a winning start to their Premier League campaign. Manchester United romped to a 2-1 triumph at Old Trafford on Friday night.

Luke made no attempt to hide his emotions and described the moment he celebrated in front of the Stretford End. According to him, it was the best feeling he’s experienced so far in his career.

Shaw scored past keeper Kasper Schmeichel in the 83rd minute firmly placing United in the driving seat. It was also the full-back’s first goal in his 134th game in professional football.

Asked to name the last time he found the net at any level, Luke recalled:

Shaw featured in all six of United’s matches in the preseason. However, he didn’t succumb to complacency, saying that he could have done better during the warm-up games. The 23-year old is desperate to keep showing he is worthy of a regular place in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI.
