According to the Italian edition of Motorsport.com Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto is electing to focus on his team principal role. Prior to that, he had been juggling the technical director duties alongside his leadership role.

Motorsport.com Italy revealed that Binotto had been performing a dual role with the Maranello squad. However, the latest developments at Maranello say that he will step down as technical director. Instead of one technical director, there will be a three-man team in place, handling the technical affairs.

However, there has been no official announcement with regard to the Ferrari situation and Mattia Binotto. Thought-provokingly, the expectant announcement could be on the way in the build-up to next weekend’s German Grand Prix  at Hockenheim.

As it turns out, chassis head, Enrico Cardile, aerodynamicist David Sanchez and engineer Corrado Iotti have been linked to the technical team roles. If all goes to plan, the new technical team will report directly to Binotto from Germany onwards.

Further evidence of a Ferrari reshuffle came to light with confirmation that former chief designer, Simone Resta, will rejoin the Maranello team later this year from Alfa Romeo.

However, Ferrari have opted to remain coy on Resta’s official job title in Ferrari. Contrary to popular belief, it will not be technical director or chief designer.

The report also states that the reshuffle is taking place, predominantly with the 2020 season in mind. All this is happening while development continues to ramp up on the new car.

In all honesty, Mattia Binotto and the Ferrari team need to get their act together. This is because, the Mercedes team are already storming away and Red Bull have already notched up a win. With Number 1 driver Sebastian Vettel making a lot of mistakes, it is leaving Charles LeClerc high and dry and left to do the dirty work.
