“They can’t allll be STRIKES!!” Dodgers second baseman Markus Lynn ‘Mookie’ Betts recently posted a video on his Instagram page, showing off his exceptional bowling skills. As he rolled from a perfect angle, all the pins fell except for one. Mookie was seen coming back with a slight look of disappointment adorning his face.

Mookie Betts is the only player in MLB’s history to win the most MVPs, Batting Titles, Silver Sluggers, Gold Gloves, and World Series in a single season in 2018. That was when he played with the Red Sox. But his form saw a different turn of events after his draft with the Dodgers recently. His MLB dreams went down the drain as he left his last game on crutches. Well, they really can’t all be strikes now, can they? But does this mean the end of the championship chase for Betts?

Mookie Betts and His Series of Fortunate Events

This isn’t the first time Mookie was seen crushing strikes at the alley. Six years ago, the 2017 World Series of Bowling saw him throw a perfect 12 strikes in the Scorpion Championship at Reno. Adding up his 300 from last year, Mookie has five perfect games in his bag at present. And now, he’s showing off at the U.S. Open Championship with a Mookie magic like never before.

Round one of the U.S. Open included Betts as a single player. As spectators watched him throw a perfect hook, downing 10 pins at one go, Betts turned his back to the lane and muttered a self-assuring “Yes” to himself. And his actions speak the same.

That day, he tied for 19th place with ex-champion Jason Belmonte. Compared to pro-bowlers in the league, Mookie Betts has little experience but a powerful technique that makes people consider him one of the best bowlers to exist. Although he plays most of his games by himself, he’s often seen with his brother, Mark, or a friend accompanying him to the pins. He thinks of the alley as his second home. Betts celebrated his birthday this year with another 300 games—a polar opposite performance compared to what he had to face in the diamond.

An Injurious Yet Glorious 2023 for the Mookie Betts Legacy

In September’s Dodgers vs. Marlins match, Mookie hurt his left foot to a foul ball in the first inning of the game. He did not recede from playing, choosing to be on the field instead, albeit in slow form. He had to leave the stadium on crutches, which signaled an end to his on-field time this season.

Betts, persevering as always, did not give up on playing, though. He’s focusing on his bowling vision as of now, as seen in his recent Instagram post. He might have lost his chance in the MLB World Series this season, but who’s to say that he won’t win the Bowling World Series Championship in the next 2–3 years?
