Isn’t it just fulfilling to see superstars showing up for each other even in the smallest ways possible? Back in Game 7 of the NLCS, when Bryce Harper stole the show with an interesting pre-game selection of jersey, it struck a chord with one of the Philadelphia 76ers.

It’s no secret that the Philadelphia Phillies bid farewell to the World Series, on October 24th, battling the Arizona Diamondbacks. Yet, the fervor with which the players showed up, especially the ‘Showman’ made headlines. His choice of wearing the Philadelphia 76ers star-themed latest City Edition jersey, displayed the emotion of Philly’s Brotherly love. With that, the NBA ace reciprocated the sentiment.

Ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers vs. Portland Trail Blazers, Patrick Beverly star of the 76ers, donned a Phillies-themed jersey. In retrospect, this was his way of emoting a likewise feeling in spite of The Fightin’ Phils not contending. While doing this might have indicated a fate for the Sixers similar to the Phillies, they lucked out. The light blue jersey that Mr. 94 feet wore, with the quintessential stylized Phillies – ‘P’, was synonymous with a 126-98 win against Portland.

The Philadelphia Phillies and the Arizona Diamondbacks were the center of attention last Tuesday as everyone anticipated who would advance to the Fall Classic. Most sided with Bryce Harper and Philadelphia, because why not? It’s a no-brainer. Quite contradictorily though, Citizens Bank Park saw another home loss. And some attributed the loss to the 76ers jersey bad omen.

Rob Thomson felt distressed as the loss shook his faith. His words were, “I told the club if you asked me two days ago, two weeks ago, two months ago if we would be going home tonight, I would have said no. So that’s how much belief I have in this club”.
