Recently during the latest episode of the show Bloomberg Wealth with David Rubenstein, A-Rod shared his life experience, which led to him making a promise to himself.
A-Rod recounted the story of his father abandoning him in his early teenage years, and the hardships he witnessed his mother go through after his father left. Having gone through so much, A-Rod promised that if he ever becomes a father, he would not let his children relive his childhood pain.
It all came when the host asked A-Rod what his biggest achievement was. He answered, “My fatherhood to my girls is probably the most important.”
Earlier in the conversation, the MLB legend shared the reason for this and spoke about the promise he made to his teenage daughters. He said, “My life changed when my father left at the age of 10. I remember watching my mother go through all the pain and torture of having to raise two kids in a very tough environment. I made a promise to myself that I said, dear God, if I ever get an opportunity to be a father, it was a little prayer that I said I’m going to make sure that I’m a present father and that’s my number one responsibility in life”.
