But the latest picture from the country of the great Buddha shatters all doubts. Given that it captured the essence of love for the game, the baseball world adored the scenes with their reactions to social media.

Bhutan is one of the most peaceful countries in the world. Despite being amidst challenges, it continues enlightening the world on the principles of peace and harmony. And now, it could lead the way for other countries that admire to shine in the baseball world.

Rising to the occasion, MLB Life shared a Twitter post depicting this new baseball boom in the Himalayan Kingdom.

A part of it read, “The world’s most remote country, Bhutan, is experiencing a baseball boom. What started as a handful of kids playing on a concrete slab has grown to more than 6,000 children who are becoming dedicated baseball fans…..” The picture captured the love and zeal of young kids admiring to become the next Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge.

According to MLB.com, it all has been possible because of the local baseball fans, including the co-founder and chairman of the Bhutan Baseball and Softball Association (BBSA), Matthew DeSantis.

DeSantis on his trip to Bhutan met now-president of the baseball association, Karma Dorji. Being a man with a strong passion to make baseball accessible kids for free, Dorji defines the journey of this as brutal but soothing.

On a phone call, said Dorji, “There was no organization, there was no institution back then. The first thing we did is make a few social media posts. ‘Hey guys, we’re playing baseball this weekend. Is anybody interested? Please show up.'” 

And the effort was fruitful, with 50 or 60 kids arriving to start Bhutan’s baseball dream. And since then, it has only grown bigger. The association also had its annual tournament, with hundreds of kids experiencing the competitive setup.

This is nothing short of magic, and the baseball community, who loves scenes like this, had a similar thought.

The Baseball Community Loves Bhutan’s Story

The baseball community goes all its heart out for inspiration. And the same was their thought when the beautiful story came from Bhutan.

Reacting to it, many termed it as worth putting in a museum. While others called it breathtaking.

Many fans are eagerly waiting for new stars to join the baseball company.

What began as a mere matter of weeks has now grown into something truly immense. Concluding his experience so far, DeSantis said, “So that’s our greatest success. Kids are there and they love it. They want to keep playing.”
