Families are a messy thing, despite how well the members may get along. Whether one is related by blood or an even stronger connection, families are the safe place one can rely on. Maybe that’s why the found family trope is so popular in media and books. Creating a comfortable space for the younger members, even if drama may arise, is the adults’ job. And retired Yankees player Alex Rodriguez is trying to do exactly that.

Rodriguez used to juggle family life and a career in pro baseball when he was still an active player. Married to Cynthia Scurtis, the couple had two daughters. But things didn’t quite work out and A-Rod and Scurtis split in 2008, after six years of married life. After a tumultuous time, the couple has now become good friends as they’ve each moved on. And they’re even trying to be supportive of each other’s new relationships!

Cynthia Scurtis interacting with A-Rod’s romantic partners is no new thing. Their daughters, Natasha and Ella Rodriguez have acclimated well to Jac Cordeiro, Rodriguez’s current girlfriend. And while that may be because Cordeiro has two girls of her own, but even Scurtis seems to like her.

At a recent Timberwolves game, of which A-Rod is part owner, all of his family came together. Rodriguez, Cordeiro, and Scurtis, as well as all their kids. The former shortstop took to his Instagram stories to share a picture of the happy family, and everyone had wide grins on their faces. It looks like Rodriguez’s ex-wife is meshing well with his new girlfriend because that was not always the case.
