The least to describe the hitting power of Barry Bonds is that almost every pitcher feared him from the mound. Having played for the Pirates for seven years, Bonds had quite a CV for his new contract. Not many people know, but Bonds would have been a Yankee because of one call. 

What made Barry Bonds choose the Giants over the Yankees?

Recently, the Giants legend appeared in ESPN’s KayRod Cast with Michael Kay and Alex Rodriguez. And he detailed what made him sign for the Giants over the Pinstripes. When Michael asked him how close he was to becoming a Yankee, Bonds said it was a matter of 15-20 minutes.

“It was very close for about 15 or 20 minutes. Because what happened… And I tell people the two stories. The Yankees offered me the same contract… Unfortunately, they said, you have until two o’clock this afternoon to make a decision.” And I just said, I’ll get back to you about it, and I went off to go grab something to eat…,” Bonds said.
