Boone mentioned Alex Verdugo, though not initially. His acquisition from the Boston Red Sox displays an intriguing possibility. Thanks to his stats in 2023.Verdugo recorded solid .280 BA, .331 OBP, and .461 SLG. Moreover, one can’t underestimate his potential to vamp up the lineup in the ideal setup of the Yankee Stadium.

This steady improvement makes him a reliable candidate for the leadoff spot. His 9.4% strikeout rate and 16 stolen bases this year are proof that he is a top asset. Additionally, Verdugo’s left-handed bat provides a balance of sorts to the right-handed heavy lineup. To the Yankees’ advantage this would derange the rhythm of opponent pitchers.
