The Houston Astros are in a tough spot. After a flaming start, their pitching staff has sputtered, resulting in a string of losses and surmounting frustration. However, in the thick of uncertainty and discouragement, some Astros insiders see a glimmer of hope in a trio of talented arms that could potentially change things for the better.

The Astros’ struggles can be primarily attributed to their starting pitching, not to mention Jose Altuve and Jose Abreu. There have been injuries and inconsistent performances which have left the rotation in shambles. So much so that there’s talk on how “Honestly, it’s getting worse”. But there are folks who could come to the rescue.

The Houston Astros’ winning trio
There’s a reason for this cautious optimism. The return of key starting pitchers like Framber Valdez and Justin Verlander is on the horizon. These two veterans, along with the enigmatic Cristian Javier, could be the force Houston needs desperately. “They go down four nothing in the first inning, did you think there was any chance they’re winning this game? No.”

Valdez, who is known for his to-the-point control and deceptive changeup, has been a key part of the Astros’ rotation for years. Verlander who is likely a future Hall of Famer, brings experience and power pitching to the table. Javier, a breakout star last season, possesses impressive fastball velocity and a knack for rising to the occasion.

The resurgence of these pitchers relies on their being healthy. Javier, in particular, who has been sidelined with a neck issue, among others, has raised concerns about his immediate availability. Michael Connor of the Locked On Sports Houston podcast said, “Maybe they can get through a few innings of a baseball game, and not have a you know five-nothing deficit.”

Other factors that could turn things around for the Houston Astros
The Astros have found themselves in a race against time. While the season is still young, there are early struggles that have put them in a precarious position. Adding a layer of complication to this, Jose Altuve and Jose Abreu’s performance has worried the team. Given that these three pitchers continue remaining healthy and rediscover their form, they could be the game changer. Then it’s only a matter of time before they turn a disappointing season and a championship run.
However, if injuries or inconsistency continue to litter the rotation, their hopes for success could vanish sooner than expected. Only time will reveal the answer whether Houston’s pitching woes are a temporary blip or an indication of a lost season. Nevertheless, one thing is certain – a healthy and dominant Javier, Valdez, and Verlander are critical to the Astros’ chances of getting back on track.
