It has been a rough start for the 2018 World Series Champions Boston Red Sox. They are languishing at the bottom of the AL East with a win percentage of 0.504. They have not been the best of their form lately, which was visible in their last game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Not only did the Red Sox perform average offensively but they endured an embarrassing day while fielding.

Fielding is one of the crucial aspects of baseball, but Red Sox players failed to execute it. Given that they were already trailing in the game, the comedy of errors resulting in a bigger deficit got the attention of the fans. Already not happy with the team’s overall display this season, fans could not get over this casual display. And have registered their reactions to the latest defeat.

A forgetful outing for the Red Sox fielders!

The sixth inning of the game saw a poor fielding effort from the Red Sox. It happened after Yandy Diaz hit the ball and ran toward the second base. But a foul throw from the fielder allowed the Rays to score a run. It became more embarrassing for the Sox after they failed to stop Diaz from circling the bases to add more to the total. Talkin’ Baseball shared the clip of this whole incident. The caption read, “Yandy Diaz gets a little league inside the parker thanks to a super sloppy play from the Red Sox.”

This was the last engagement from the game, which added anything to the scoreboard. The Rays controlled the proceedings after it to oversee the win with a score of 6-2. Apart from Diaz, who finished the game with a run and an RBI, five more players added a run each.
