It was not the season that fulfilled the expectations of the New York Yankees. The 27-time champion failed to make it to the World Series. Given that they spent a lot on the season, it put the question on the ability of the team and the players. However, Gerrit Cole remained an exception after performing well for the team.
The star pitcher played a crucial role for the team and claimed many victories. It also made him the favorite for the Cy Young Award. The confirmation from the MLB has confirmed his fight for the prestigious award. Notably, if he wins, it would be another award in the bag of the Yankees, after Anthony Volpe won the Gold Glove award. Will this be the case?

It has been an astonishing journey for Gerrit Cole since his MLB debut. The 33-year-old has pitched 1859 innings and has over 2152 strikeouts to become one of the most prolific players in MLB history. He also won multiple awards, including two MLB strikeouts and AL ERA leader, adding to MLB exploits. However, in all these years, Cole has not won the Cy Young Award in a big miss. Though it might change this year.

Reportedly, the Pinstripes star has made it to the final three nominations of the AL Cy Young Award. It has happened, all thanks to a glorious season with 15-4 at an ERA of 2.63 with 222 strikeouts at a WHIP of 0.98. With this, Cole finished sixth in the league leaderboards, but his overall put him ahead of everyone who could be on his first AL Cy Award. Interestingly, fans have acknowledged the same and have their thoughts along similar lines.
