As the Fall Classic is afoot, one player has used this stage to shine. Belonging to the Arizona Diamondbacks, this 30-year-old is one to beware of. With his hitting streak, Ketel Marte stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the elite names of the New York Yankees and Red Sox. However, in Game 2 of the World Series, the reigning NLCS MVP has surpassed these legends to create a history of his own.
Manny Ramirez, Derek Jeter, and Hank Bauer had a 17-game streak themselves during the playoffs at their times. That said, they now welcome the Dominican infielder of the Diamondbacks to their club. Having equaled these names in Game 1 of the World Series, Marte has now outshone them on Saturday in Arlington.

As Arizona leads the game right now, the prowess of this D-Backs ace is one to celebrate. Additionally, right before Saturday, he had played 13 of the Diamondbacks’ postseason games in all of which he registered hits. His hitting streak began in 2017 with three-for-five in the NL Wild Card Game and four-for-12 in the NLDS. In today’s Texas vs. Arizona showdown, Ketel has achieved an 18-game hitting streak within the initial 18 postseason games of his career, which will remain indelible in the MLB chronicles of the 2023 postseason.

On Saturday, the 2019 All-Star, with the bases loaded, one out, and a 0-for-4 batting line, took the mound in the eighth inning. He then drove a two-run single up the middle off a Martin Perez changeup, creating Arizona’s advantage to 7-1. Marte stands at hitting .333 this postseason and a .910 OPS, both the top marks for Arizona.

Arizona’s Stellar ‘Answerback’ To The Texas Rangers
The rattlesnakes appeared to be winning at the bottom of the sixth inning. Merrill Kelly, the D-backs’ starter, only needed 59 pitches to limit the Rangers to one run in five innings. Corbin Carroll, a rookie sensation, put the team in a winning position with a one-out triple to center field. That’s not it, the D-Backs game back hard and strong with more consistent performances.
