Shohei Ohtani was recently signed by the LA Dodgers this month on a massive deal. Shotime held all the free agency meetings behind closed doors. So the deal was only confirmed once it finally went through. The Dodgers were reportedly discussing signing another major DH in case the deal with Ohtani fell through. The slugger has to decide where to go for the next season, with the recent change in events.

The slugger in question, J. D. Martinez, was predicted by a major insider to side with one of the Dodgers’ rival teams in the National Leagues. These are the details of the prophesied pairing that have been revealed so far.

J.D. Martinez gave up his hopes of joining the Dodgers clubhouse when the team confirmed clinching Shohei Ohtani with a $700 million offer that changed the history of American sports. According to MLB insider and The Athletic columnist Jim Bowden, the slugger was all set to re-sign with his former team. Martinez faces an uncertain free agency future, and Bowden predicted he will go for the Dodgers’ NL West rivals, the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The D-Backs have been in dire need of a designated hitter. Martinez’s dynamic power proves that adding him to their dugout will be a fitting answer to the Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani power-up. Not only that, the penny-pinching predicted offer that the outfielder comes with, along with his record hits of this season, proves to be the perfect missing puzzle piece for the Snakes.

A steal deal for one of the best hitters in MLB seems like a dream come true

Bowden predicted that Martinez would fetch around $30 million for two years for any of the teams contending for him. Paying $15 million a year for a two-time Silver Slugger awardee seems like too little of a price to pay. His records from this year further prove the magnitude of talent that the D-Backs will acquire if they clinch him.

Martinez racked up a record 33 homers across 113 games with 103 RBIs and 61 runs this year. He picked .893 OPS, hitting .271 in the entire 2023 season spent in the Dodgers dugout.
