One of the iconic MLB venues, Dodger Stadium, recently witnessed a grand concert. Notably, it is home to the MLB side Los Angeles Dodgers. Pop music sensation Dua Lipa was among the performers. Playing host to the farewell tour of legendary musician Elton John, the stadium came to life in the MLB offseason. Lipa elevated the hype surrounding the concert with a post on her Twitter account. 

Opened back in 1962, it’s the third oldest baseball stadium in use. In terms of seating capacity, it’s the largest existing baseball stadium. However, apart from baseball games, the Dodger Stadium has also hosted numerous concerts over the years. 

Dating back to 1975, a festive crowd at the Dodger Stadium witnessed a memorable concert involving a young Elton John. That concert became a significant part of rock music history and Elton’s individual career. Taking the stage dressed as a Dodgers player, Elton belted out a larger-than-life performance, which became very symbolic of him. Many decades later, Elton returned to the same venue for his farewell tour, having Dua Lipa as a fellow performer.

Elton John’s North American farewell tour concert at the Dodger Stadium witnessed a star-studded lineup. Performing alongside Elton were Dua Lipa, Brandi Carlile, and Kiki Dee. In 2021, Elton and Lipa collaborated to sing the award-winning song, ‘Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)’. Titled, ‘Farewell Brick Road’, Elton’s concert had a live stream on the Disney Plus platform.

Lipa took to her Twitter account, and put up a promotional post quoting, “Hop in – We’re going Dodgers tonight!”  

One fan replied, by writing, “Don’t mind if I do. I’ll go anywhere with you and pink outfit talking to me. Hope you have a good night and have a hotdog for me.”

Another fan wrote, “Love u sm Dua… Can’t wait to see u in 3 weeks for NYC jingle ball. We’re gonna have a blast.” 

While another fan wrote, “Omg. Dua Lipa mentioned the dodgers and knows we exist. This is the best day ever.”

A quick flashback at Elton John’s first-ever concert at Dodger Stadium 

Back in the 1970s, rock & roll appeared to have the power to save the world. Elton burst onto the scene like a superhero with his near-superhuman-like performances. His 1975 concert at the Dodger Stadium helped him to cement the building bricks of his musical legacy. Hitting the perfect notes with his classic ‘Your Song’, he thus smashed the ball out of the park.
