Another day, and another not-so-surprising display by the New York Yankees. With every passing day, their troubles are exponentially increasing, and the front office is absolutely clueless. After multiple games of offensive failure, the batters stood up and took a two-run lead in the third. This lead was maintained by Domingo German, who didn’t concede a single run till the eighth innings, when Aaron Boone, for some strange reason, decided to take him off.

And that decision, right there, cost the Yanks another game, and the Pinstripes lost their eighth game in their last 11 games.

Another letdown in Pinstripes

While Jose Trevino homered and batted one run in, DJ LeMahieu batted another run in the third inning to gain a two-run lead over the Guardians.

After the game, Domingo German, who only conceded two hits and one run until he was taken off, expressed discontent about not being able to finish the game and watching the Yanks lose. He said, “Of course, you want the opportunity to finish the game. But at the same time, you understand that’s a decision that the manager makes. I’m never going to disagree when he comes out. To me, I have to keep doing my job until that moment comes, when someone comes out and takes the ball from me.”

Fans are slowly running out of ways to express disappointment. They had a two-run lead before entering the ninth, and in hindsight, there was simply no reason to send German back. But Boone did, and the result is visible.

Here are a few reactions from fans:

Notably, the Yanks have already lost three consecutive series – Blue Jays, Twins, and Rangers. And now, with Aaron Judge on the IL too, a comeback against the Guardians seems unlikely.

An injury-plagued New York Yankees roster

Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Harrison Bader, Luis Severino, Josh Donaldson, Carlos Rodon, and Frankie Montas, among many many others, are the Yankee stars who are officially on the IL with various injuries. Their biggest miss is obviously captain Aaron Judge, who entered the IL after lots of contemplation. Even Stanton’s absence is really hurting the Yankee offense, which is going down with every passing game.

Will the Yankees be able to come back from this unbelievable slide and eventually make it to the postseason despite all these injuries? Presently, they stand alone at the bottom of the American League East with 15 wins and 15 losses.
